While Whitney was active in high school and college, running was never something she thought of as fun. In 2010, when she finished college, nervously watching her weight increase – Whitney decided to try the running thing, using couch to 5k. Since, she has continued running to stay healthy and maintain sanity through graduate school and the many moves from KY to PA to France and now, FL. As a member of the Orlando’s Track Shack MarathonFest training group, she’s served as a training group leader.
To date, Whitney has completed countless 5ks and 10ks, a couple sprint triathlons, 20 half marathons, and 5 marathons. She’s proud to share that she achieved PRs in every race distance in 2018 and experienced the joy of her first trail half. The next goal for her is to complete the 50 states challenge (complete a half (or more) in each of the 50 states). Whitney’s day job is teaching physics to undergraduates and researching the acoustics of musical instruments. She currently lives in Orlando, FL with her cool French husband and two awesome cats (Misu and Monk).
