Shena ran cross country as an 8th grader. While she loved being part of the team, she hated every second of the running and believed she would never run distance again. However, that all changed when a friend invited her to run the Turkey Trot in 2012. At age 35, she decided to try to jog the 3 mile course. She was terrified of that distance but actually had a runner’s high all day long after the run. She decided to give distance running a go. Since then she has run several half marathons and 10K’s and numerous 5K’s. She runs three times a week, and it has changed her life for the better. Running has taught her that she is so much stronger than she ever thought she could be.
Having been a group fitness instructor for the past decade, helping people meet their fitness goals is a passion of hers, and she believes that cross training is an important component of a runner’s fitness regime.
Above all, Shena loves encouraging others to incorporate running into their lives because she knows how truly rewarding it can be. She looks forward to motivating and helping other runners meet their goals.
