Running has never been an easy thing for Shannon but three years after completing her first 10K race, she begin running again in 2012. She started out slow at a mile of run-walking and eventually built up to two miles of running. It was not until she started meeting up with a friend that the two miles turned into three. Soon after, she was introduced to local running clubs, and the miles started skyrocketing. Little did she know that she would be running half marathons in less than a year!
In 2014, Shannon ran the Houston Half Marathon. Midway through the race, she felt a shooting pain around mile eight and had to walk five miles to finish the race. She later finds out that she developed a stress fracture on her right tibia and would not be able to run for at least eight weeks. Sitting out on the sidelines watching her friends run was excruciating. With the encouragement and patience of friends she met at run club, Shannon came back two months later with a vengeance and the determination to conquer the Houston Full Marathon (her first one) the very next year. Since then, she has continued to build her love for conquering marathons with the help of her running friends and enjoy helping others achieve their goals.
