Sara Brown started running as a way to get healthy in 2007, but didn’t start running races until 2010 when she ran one 10K a month from September through December. Sara’s first half-marathon was in March 2011, which she finished in 2:05, and in October 2011, she crossed the finish line of her first marathon at the Marine Corps Marathon in 5:07. Since then, Sara has trained completely on her own and, to date, has finished over 8 marathons and 15 half-marathons with a PR of 4:28 and 1:57, respectively. Sara has also run the 2013 Goofy Challenge and the 2016 Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World and participates frequently in numerous local races. Sara is currently training for the 2016 Hood to Coast Relay and the 2016 New York City Marathon, and hopes to run the Los Angeles Marathon and at least one international race in 2017. When asked how many more marathons she will run, Sara always says, “At least 2 more: my Boston-qualifier and the Boston Marathon.” A Nebraska native, Sara has lived in Washington, DC since 2008 and still considers the National Mall as her favorite place to run.
