Ryan grew up in a small city called Windsor, just south of the Detroit. He quickly fell in love with hockey but always had an open mind to try just about anything. In the year of 2016, his uncle completed a successful season of endurance triathlons and running races. Ryan thought to himself “what an incredible inspiration, his 47 year old uncle lost more than 30lbs and is now competing in Ironman 70.3’s”
Ryan at the time had no experience in endurance races or triathlons, yet he still decided to throw his name in the lottery of “Escape Alcatraz Triathlon”, thinking it would be a long shot. He was selected to race in the following year 2017. Ever since that race, he has fallen in love with a sport for only the 2nd time in his life (the other being hockey).
Since then Ryan has competed in countless 1/2 marathons, marathons, sprint triathlons,Olympic triathlons, and Ironman races. Ryan has been successful in qualifying for the New York City Marathon. He is proud of his accomplishment and is constantly encouraging others to make a lifestyle change they would not regret. He hopes to help as many athletes as possible to qualify for Boston or New York this year at the Detroit Free Press Marathon, and encourages to have a group surrounding him along the way.
