If you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right.
That sums up what running means to Roger. He has fun when he runs, and if you run with him, you’ll have fun together.
He’s in his 50s and started running (again) in September 2008. Since then, he has completed a 50K, 7 marathons, and 17 half marathons. This year, he will be tackling his first Ragnar in Wisconsin/Minnesota, and is looking forward to the experience.
He lives in Dothan, AL, and averages just over 1,000 miles a year running, and his favorite runs are any runs that are new to him, especially on vacation or when travelling. He has always used the Galloway run/walk strategy, which he believes has kept him injury free, and he currently walks 1 minute at every mile marker, even in training. Roger rescued an older Lab mix dog named Raven, and he runs his first mile with her as a warm up. When they run together, he leaves his watch at home and lets her dictate the pace and the stops, which are frequent, so she can smell everything that can be smelled. ☺
One extra tidbit of information: He has a goal to run at least 3 miles in every state, and so far he’s at number 26 and will add two more states after Ragnar.
