Patty Hurtado

Patty has always been active, as she struggled with her weight as a teen. She was diagnosed with thyroid disease when she was in her early 20’s. She was into spinning, steps, weights, yoga and pilates, but running wasn’t her favorite activity until she was in her 40’s. She started running on the treadmill at the gym and soon she built up her mileage and decided to join a local running club. She joined the Redlands Runegades in 2011 and ran her first 10K after a month. She ran her first half and her first full marathon later that year. She has learned that running can heal the mind and the body. She has been off thyroid medication since 2013 and completed 14 full marathons, several half marathons, 10Ks, 5Ks, and relays. She achieved her dream of qualifying for Boston in 2015. Patty enjoys pacing because she can help other runners achieve their goals. She works at LLUMC and lives in Yucaipa with her 15 year old son.
