Monica is a mom of 2 and has always loved being outdoors. She was a soccer player for most of grade school and high school, yet she never considered herself a runner. After her kids were born, she started running as a last resort when trying to lose weight for her brother’s wedding. It was actually her brother who inspired her to get some exercise in addition to dieting. When she was able to run a mile, he invited her to run a 5k. She took the challenge and began training. After the 5k, she was determined to go farther. She ran her first half marathon 2 years later. After 7 half marathons, she ran her first full marathon in 2012. She enjoys running and training with a local running club, gardening, camping and looks forward to competing in a few mini-triathlons.
