Michele started running in 2005. The Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco was the first race she completed. She grew up in Asia and being athletic wasn’t something she was encouraged to be, but after finishing her first half in 2:39 she became addicted to running. She has completed marathons coast to coast, i.e. San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, New York, D.C.. as well as destination races in Tokyo, Osaka, Paris and Rotterdam. She jokes that “if it’s on weather channel, then I want to run it.”
When she is not running around the world, she is active with local charity & running clubs as mentor and captain, and you often see her pacing at local races to support runners and give back to the running community.
In Oct 2013, she was diagnosed with cancer very unexpectedly, but after surgery and treatment she completed the Chicago Marathon a year later. With the opportunity of rebirth, she is determined to make every day counts regardless how much or how little time she is given, and now she challenges herself with ultra distance runs. “Running is the best way to connect with this world!”
