Melorie started running in the fall of 2011 as a way to lose weight. In the Spring of 2012 she ran her first 5K race but was disappointed with her finish time and the walk breaks she took during the run. After several months Melorie decided to give running another try. She joined her local Black Girls Run group for support and has been running ever since. She is now a marathoner, triathlete and obstacle course runner. Running changed her life–it has not only boosted her confidence, but has given her several fitness friends to share in the journey.
