Dr. Lisa Gonzales is a 48 year old public school district Superintendent in California and advocate for public education on a state and federal level. She began distance running while teaching and living in San Francisco, a chip on her shoulder because she was told she’d never be an endurance athlete Some 14 marathons and 60+ half marathons later, her record speaks for itself. Her fastest marathon is 4:26 and half is 1:52. Of course, those were all post-twins. These days, pacing is much more her style, having traded in speed for saving her body. She is a head coach for the San Francisco Marathon and Berkeley Half Marathon with the Run365 program. Having found her true passion for coaching others, she loves helping others surpass their goals. She’s run New York, Chicago, Tucson, Napa, Big Sur, and the California International Marathon to name a few, but still has her heart set on Boston someday. She is the mother of twin girls whose need for speed they didn’t get from her.
