Janice started running in middle school as a way to stay in shape for Nordic skiing when there was no snow on the ground. After running many 5ks, 10ks, and half-marathons, she eventually ran her first marathon (Grandma’s Marathon) right after high school graduation in 1995. Janice ran 8 marathons before having her first son in 2009 and completed her 9th marathon when he was 9 months old, but then decided to take a hiatus from long-distance running so that she could focus on her little family. Her second son came along in 2012 and finding time to run after work proved to be challenging with two little ones at home!
In 2014, Janice started a new job that has a very dedicated running club that runs over the lunch hour every day. Running with such a motivating group quickly whipped her back in shape and she ran her 10th marathon in 2016, with aspirations of completing many more. Janice has formed many strong friendships in her running group, as well as a strong desire to motivate others in their running journeys. Janice enjoys encouraging and watching her boys run their own races as they grow, and is looking forward to the challenge someday (soon) of keeping up with them as they get stronger and faster.
