Flor Hernandez

Flor started racing in 2001, that first race was a 5k she ran with some of her coworkers. As soon as she crossed that finish line she was hooked.  She loved the atmosphere of the race, there were runners and walkers of all ages and abilities running the race.  Shortly after that 5k she decided to run the LA Marathon. Little did she know what she was getting into, it was the hardest thing she had ever done, yet it amazed her to see that if you put your mind to it your body will do things that were once unthinkable.   Flor has now ran 103 half marathons and 20 full marathons. She plans to run a half marathon in every state.
After watching her mother struggle through kidney failure, go through dialysis and finally losing her battle with Lupus she now realizes that having good health is our most valuable asset.  Running has helped her get through some of her toughest times and major life changes and she uses races as goals to keep her motivated and focused. Flor enjoys traveling, being outdoors enjoying nature, art and especially spending time with her family. She hopes to inspire others to live a healthier life, to go outdoors and keep moving doing something they love.
