Earle Oda

Born and raised in Hawaii, Earle ran track and cross country in high school but paid no attention to his diet or health for much of his adult life.  At the age of 50, he was overweight and was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic.  It was a huge wake-up call.  However, his love for running never went away.  So, he began to run again.  With a dream of someday qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon, he finally achieved that dream in 2018 and hopes to continue every year.  He runs over 10 marathons a year.  His aim is now to qualify for the New York City Half Marathon and Marathon. He also wants to run many of the major marathons in the U.S. and around the world.  He loves the marathon distance because it challenges him in so many ways.  Earle belongs to several running groups in the Seattle area and formed his own running club in 2016 at Boeing, his employer.  He is a lifetime Half Fanatic and Marathon Maniac member.  He has run the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll every year since its inaugural year of 2009.  Earle will continue to run as long as his legs will allow him to do so.  When not running, Earle enjoys hiking and Zumba dancing.  Through pacing, he hopes to experience a new activity and help others reach their goals.
