On New Year’s Eve 2013, Devon and a friend were on vacation and her friend said, “Do you want to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon in 2015?” That started her distance running journey. Devon had run cross country in high school but never raced more than a 5k. She spent the next 14 months on the journey to become a distance runner. Since then Devon has run many races ranging from 5Ks to marathons.
In January 2017, her same friend suggested they try doing triathlons; Devon did not own a bike and did not swim but was up for the challenge. Devon has now done triathlons at several different distances, and completed her first ½ iron distance triathlon in 2018.
In 2016, Devon was asked if she wanted to assist in coaching her daughter High School Cross Country team. From that, she has found the most joy is in helping other people reach their running goals. Since then she has coached a Girls on the Run team, became a motivator for her local running club (#RYH) and now is the Head Coach of her daughter’s Cross Country team.
Devon is always up for a reason to put on a little sparkle and run. She looks forward to continuing to help motivate others through pacing (and sparkling along the way).
