Cathy was a sprinter on the track team in high school, so she never imagined herself to be a distance runner. When she turned 40, a good friend challenged Cathy to train for and run a half marathon with her. At the time, she hadn’t run regularly since college, and never more than a 5K! During the process of that training, Cathy found that running is so much more than putting your feet to the pavement. Through running, she’s gained physical achievement, emotional well-being and amazing friendships. Cathy has since taken on many more distance challenges, including running four 50K trail races in a year. She continues to push herself through running and fitness, and enjoys giving back to the running community by pacing and crewing other runners. She finds that what is most rewarding about pacing is seeing the joy of achievement when runners cross that finish line!
