Bernardo’s passion for running began in High School when he joined the Cross Country team, then went on to compete at the collegiate level at Concordia College. During his career as a teacher, Bernardo spent 13 years as the Cross Country Coach where he not only impacted the lives of hundreds of youth, he was also able to grow his own talent in running by racing and running longer distances.
Recently, Bernardo transitioned into a new career as an Athletic Director, where he is able to positively influence programs that provide students with opportunities to participate in a variety of sports. His own love for running has also shifted into a new phase as he has begun to race in longer and longer events. Now having completed multiple marathons and 50k races, Bernardo continues to be an inspiration to those who train with him.
Bernardo lives on the Central Coast of California where he is able to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle running, hiking, biking, and surfing. He also enjoys training with his wife and rock climbing with his two children.
