Amanda was told all of her life that she couldn’t run because of her severe asthma and bad ankles. In 2006, she decided to prove everyone wrong and signed up for her first 5k. Starting out not being able to run more than 30 seconds at a time, she has now completed 20+ marathons/ultra marathons and 20+ half marathons along with a host of other races. She’s a upper middle of the pack runner that places in her age group every once in awhile at local races. Current PRs include a 1:53 half and a 3:58 full. If anyone told her back in 2006 that she would be racing in the 8-9 minute mile paces for any distance, she would have thought they were crazy! Her situation is proof that if anyone has the determination and mental strength to accomplish a goal, anything is possible.
Her favorite quote is – “Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.”
